The cliche of decision taken by man has aptly been preserved by Paulo Coelo when he rightfully asserted that, “A mistake repeated more than once is a decision”. The above cannot be wished away from the chequered history that has trailed our political landscape as a nation. Against this backdrop we must as a matter of urgency re-examine the pathfinders whose traces of positive impacts are more to be desired. It is in this light that, we usher EMMANUEL AGBO PhD. a man tested, reliable, dynamic and of experienced breed whose intellectual savvy and administrative ingenuity constantly hits our lingered memories of his participation in the art of politics.

Dr Agbo, unarguably remains a party man whose political finesse has been etched in the course of his active resolve of being a bridge builder of interests that have gone far beyond politics into the realm of developmental governance. The humble circumstances of his upbringing in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State have always created an empathetic feeling on his consciences to be humane. He painstakingly underwent the path of Western education and became a Doctor of Mechanical Engineering in 2008 alongside uncountable certificates earned in the study of politics and management.

Politically, Agbo has been through the thick and thin that has baked him into a competent politician. Far back 1991, he became a Supervisory Councilor for Agriculture in Okpokwu, thereafter won elections in 1992 to the Benue State House of Assembly to become Minority Leader. He became Special Adviser to Benue State Government in 1999 and was reappointed in 2007. In March 2008, Dr. Agbo emerged the Chairman of the PDP, a position with which he repositioned the fortunes of the party at all levels within the state and proceeded to become the Chairman of the Conference of PDP Chairmen in Nigeria. His wealth of political experiences helped him navigate himself into the hearts of Benue people across ethnic lines and sentimentality. Thus becoming a midfielder on the political pitch to do the needful for Benue’s development.

As a party builder and grassroots mobilizer, Agbo served in different prominent and striking committees that include but are not limited to; 2003, 2007 and 2011 Conventions of the PDP that yielded positive results. He was the Chairman of the 2015 ward and LG congresses committee in Kano State that repositioned the party in Kano peacefully till today and also a member of the 2016 Zoning Committee. In all these, he left a track record of unbeatable landmarks in the party he still holds dear to his heart and is ready to serve. For his ability to standout among his peers and political colleagues, Agbo became a recipient of many awards from several organizations and bodies which were pursuant to his achievements like; Having the Benue State Governor re-elected in 2011, resolving party crisis and helping the government achieve a lot in infrastructural development. A humanitarian to the core, Agbo believes in the cause of right which he pursues diligently.

As the long awaited National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) approaches in haste, It is earnestly wished that, the mistake of circumventing the people’s mandate must be eschewed and a pragmatic cum progressive leader, attuned to the dynamics of Nigeria’s political dialectic must be given the blessings to navigate the voyage of the party’s victory as Deputy National Secretary. After all, it is said “to whom much is given, much is expected”.
