Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has said he will be officially defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The politician confirmed this to WAILERSNG.com on Thursday, noting that he would be declaring his defection in Lagos at the weekend.
Recall that WAILERSNG.com earlier reported that Obanikoro son Jide has officially declared for APC ahead of his father’s defection since August.
While Obanikoro is yet to clearly state reasons for his defection, reports say Mr Musiliu Obanikoro has been seen recently at gatherings of APC chieftains. One was the town hall meeting organized by the wife of Lagos Former Governor, Remi Tinubu.
Obanikoro was a minister under the Goodluck Jonathan administration and was in the running for the Lagos state governorship seat in 2015 but lost the ticket to Jimi Agbaje.
Mr Obanikoro was accused of stealing hundred of millions of Naira as a minister of State for defence under the last administration of Goodluck Jonathan, immediately the Jonathan administration ended, he flee out of the country, a report indicated that his return back to Nigeria was negotiated by a top Lagos APC chieftain, and part of the conditions to let go of the EFCC hook is to defect back to APC and work for the victory of the party ahead of 2019 election.
