To test the popularity of political parties in Ekiti State, towards the forthcoming governorship election on July 14, 2018. An independent poll has been flagged up on the www.ekitivote.com to sample the opinion of electorates across the state.
The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has continued to lead others with a wide margin, scoring over 55% of the total vote.
Ekiti voters are not easily swayed by big names, but would rather listen more to a candidate they believe can reduce or eradicate their scourging poverty.
In the poll, 5 political parties which includes APC, PDP, ADP, MPN and SDP were included as participants in the poll. The closest to ADP is APC with a percentage of about 26%. This also pointed to the fact that majority of voters may likely not vote for the ruling PDP at the general polls. The voters are also likely to behave exactly like this micro online poll at the State wide elections in July.
So far, we have PDP with Prof. Sola Eleka as candidate and ADP with Otunba Segun Adewale (OSAPraPra) as the front runner, while APC is still trying to put it’s house in order, since they could not conclude their primary election which has now been slated for Friday May 11. Other parties like SDP, MPN are still looking for a prominent candidate to fly their party’s flag.
From the available information, the ADP is likely to be the preferred choice for Ekiti masses because, the aspirant under the party, Otunba Segun Adewale popularly known as (OSAPraPra) is making serious wave amongst the people with his grassroot mobilization.
