Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti on Monday, July 23, 2018 dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State as he formally declared his defection to the Action Democratic Party (ADP) at a ceremony attended by mammoth crowd of his supporters.
He subsequently picked the ticket of the party as its Governorship candidate
Amidst cheers and chants of “Shehu” by his numerous supporters across the State in the ADP secretariat located at Biket Area, along Ikirun Road, Osogbo, Adeoti reinstated his resolve to partake in the forthcoming September 22, 2018 Governorship election in the State.
It would be recalled that Alhaji Moshood Adeoti who has been the Secretary to the State Government in Osun State for the past seven and a half years aspired to contest under the banner of the ruling party, APC. He actively consulted and campaigned vigorously amongst the party leadership and members.
The sudden change of the collegeate/delegate system by the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole into direct election otherwise called option A4 led to series of protests by Adeoti and other aspirants which the party ignored made him withdraw his participation.
In his withdrawal from the race, he cited constitutional breaches and how it has been skewed to favour the candidate that eventually emerged as the party’s candidate as his reasons but vowed to participate in the scheduled September 22 Governorship election.
Adeoti, who has been the State Chairman of the party when it was Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before his appointment as the Secretary to the State Government and amalgamation of the party into All Progressives Congress (APC) defected with majority of the State Executive Committee of APC as well as the Local Government and Ward officials and members.______________________________________________
