Mr Tolu Egbeyemi, a seasoned Business Developer, a Tax Administrator and a Literary Artist has emerged as the new Chairman of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association, Lagos Chapter. Tolu Egbeyemi emerged as a consensus candidate after his closest rival Mr Dare Dada stepped down for him to show him the spirit of camaraderie from their high school days.
He was happy with the massive support he received from all members of the group that rallied round him during and after the election, which took place at NERDC Conference Centre in Alausa , Ikeja in Lagos last Saturday.
Tolu has hit the ground running, setting agenda to move the association forward in Lagos. He promised to work with all the elected excos, stakeholders and those willing to join the alumni to move the it to the next level.
According to him, he said: After due deliberations in the executive committee, we wish to inform you that all alumni that are willing and ready to identify with Lagos Chapter are welcome. We also want to thank them in advance for showing their readiness to support and contribute their quotas to the development of this chapter, our alumni and our alma mater at large”.
Some of the prominent national leaders of the Alumni who graced the Lagos convention that produced the new chairman were Asiwaju Adedotun Adetunberu, National Chairman; Segun Odidi, National Secretary General; Chief Fadimiluyi, Former Chairman of the Chapter who is also a member of the National Executive Council and the committee chair on election. Other members of the new executive who emerged are Mr. Ope Allen, an I.T expert with Globalcom Nigeria as Secretary General. Other dignitaries were Bayo Naiyeju, a top management staff at Federal Inland Revenue Service and Ambassador Dayo Adeoye who represented the diplomatic corps family.
The secretary in his word said “We will collaborate with the National Executive, School Management and the State Government to ensure Ekiti State University takes it’s rightful place in the comity of Universities across Africa and imprint it’s name on the world academic institutions”.
The new Chairman In his determination to see to the attainment of the collective and strategic objectives of the Alumni, he presented his six-point agenda which he believes are very key and pivotal to achieving geometric development in the association:
1. To harmonize the 3 generations (OSUA, UNAD & EKSU) into one big family.
2. To support our alma mater by adding value to the infrastructure & intellectual content of EKSU.
3. To project our brand in a positive way that gives credence to the quality of our products.
4. To improve relationships beyond electronic platforms by creating personal and business value to members “through networking”.
5. To promote EKSU as a tertiary research centre.
6. To support Trusts/Foundations for a coordinated developments in EKSU.
A highly placed member of the group, Mr Dare Dada told our reporter that the inaugural meeting will take place on Sunday, December 9 at Hedge Suites 194B Jide Oki street, off Ligali Ayorinde street, Victoria Island in Lagos.
Mr. Egbeyemi is a business developer of repute with interest in Hospitality, Manufacturing, Property Development, Taxation and Business Startups. He is also the CEO of WestWing Hotels Lagos, Yemi Water Bottling Coy Lagos, OYOM Foods Packaging Mills and Cognoscenti Property Developers Ltd.______________________________________________
