Nicholas Felix is a pastor and the founder of Miracle Center International. On Saturday, he stood as one of the 73 presidential candidates in Nigeria’s general elections, and performed a miracle. The 37-year old Edo indigene who is based in the United States polled 110,196 votes to emerge as the candidate with the third highest number of votes in the elections.
It is likely that you do not know him or the party he represents, Peoples Coalition Party (PCP). You may have even voted for him without knowing you did. At least that’s what most people now think.

The reason: So how did this man who has an ‘Associate Degree’ in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Ames Christian University in Florida, manage to beat other more easily recognizable candidates, despite the fact that he hardly campaigned anywhere in the country? It could be due to a couple of reasons:
His party PCP appears just before PDP on the ballot paper given to voters on Election Day. As you can see, the only thing that differentiates them is the ‘C’ and ‘D’.
Even though their party symbols are different, the PCP and PDP have the same party colors arranged in the same order – Green, White and Red. The only difference is that PCP has a hammer and PDP has an umbrella.

Ballot papers do not carry the photos of the presidential candidates themselves. It reflects only the names and the logos of the political parties.
Luckily for Nicholas Felix, the PDP happens to be the country’s main and largest opposition party. It makes sense that some of its supporters may not have been very vigilant at the polling unit, and mistakenly thumbprinted next to the green-white-red of the PCP instead of the green-white-red of the PDP.
No wonder Nicholas Felix dusted all the other 70 candidates in the ballot with the exception of President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar.
He may even preach about it in his church this Sunday – That’s what you call a miracle.
