Thousands of supporters of the former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Alao Adebayo Akala has reportedly joined PDP enmass on Saturday, WAILERSNG.com learnt.
Akala was the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo State, until he stepped down on Friday night to throw his weight behind APC candidate, Adelabu.
Akala’s son a local government Chairman was suspended by the outgoing governor, Ajibola Ajimobi for defecting to join his father in ADP, Ajimobi accused him of anti party activities, but has now been reinstated in a copy of letter obtained by our medium on Saturday afternoon.
Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Fayemi met with Akala in his Bodija mansion to pay solidarity visit to the former governor over his decision to support APC governorship candidate.
Akala who earlier informed the media that he was still a member of ADP but Fayemi confirmed otherwise on Saturday afternoon to the media, that Akala has returned back to APC because the issues that led to his exit from the party has now been resolved.
But Akala’s supporters across the state who feels cheated that he didn’t carry them along before jumping back to APC have reportedly joined PDP, some are still in the ADP to contest for House of Assembly seats.
Oyo governorship race is now a two horse race between the PDP candidate, Mr Seyi Makinde and Adelabu of the APC, the fear of losing the State has made both sides to continue to shop for gladiators that can ensure victory for them, but with Akala’s supporters dumping him for PDP, the chances of APC in Ogbomosho axis may be very narrow.
