Guber Poll: Ohanaeze Igbo Lagos Denies Endorsing Sanwo-Olu For Governor

The Igbo socio cultural group Ohanaeze, has distance itself from the purported endorsement of the candidacy of Mr Babajide Sanwoolu of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), WAILERSNG.com learnt.

According to a media statement credited to the President of Ohanaeze Lagos, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, who purportedly said that Igbo in Lagos decided to vote the APC candidate because “he is a leader that will be there for us and he is a man we can trust.

A top member of the group who was at the stakeholder meeting at Muson center where Igbo leaders of thoughts met to discuss the recent harassment of their people in Lagos, especially in the Okota and riverrine areas in Lagos .

According to Chief Albert Okonkwo, we did not endorse Sanwoolu, we only met with representatives of the APC and Lagos government, to discuss what happened and how to mitigate against a reoccurence.

We did not at any point have any discussion on endorsing Sanwoolu, if not Joe Igbokwe who was at the meeting to represent his party, who is the State Publicity Secretary of Lagos APC should upload Videos of the speech where we endorsed Sanwoolu to his social media platforms for all to see.

We cannot be treated shabbily by Lagos State government, and then go to bed with them, Igbos who are residents in Lagos have their choices to make at the poll, we cannot force them to vote for any candidate.

As it stands now, we have over 3 strong candidates in PDP, ADP and APC, it would be unfair to mislead them to go and vote for any candidate that will not represent their interest.

I can tell you authoritatively that the media statement credited to Chief Solomon Ogbonna is a fake statement promoted in the media with the aim of paining a wrong picture of what transpired at the stakeholders meeting. Igbos are free to vote for any candidate of their choice, he concluded.
