In the build up to the 2019 election, several actors across the country swong into actions to ensure that their political interests was secured, the Presidential election that produced President Muhammad Buhari is still being challenged by his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the election tribunal.

The final outcome of that challenge cannot be predicted now because of the revelations that keeps coming out on how the elections were allegedly rigged in favor of President Buhari, as against the INEC rule that mandated that card reader accreditation must be done, but some States like Borno, Nassarawa, Adamawa, Katsina, Kaduna and others were reportedly marred with result writing without actual voting or card reader accreditation, data from INEC server and the disposition of APC led Federal Government does not give hint that the battle will easily go away.

Haven said that, what is of utmost importance now for Nigeria and Nigerians is the needed peaceful coexistence amongst the citizens, because the economy has not done well for the last four years, we witnessed the recession, and how Nigeria was named as the poverty capital of the world after overtaking India, this is so because of the political and economic imbalance that has made it difficult for Nigeria to make appreciable progress. The outcome of the 2019 elections is another opportunity for us to stabilize the country’s socio political and economic situations.

To create a win win situation and to carry all the geo political zones along, there must be fair and equitable share of power, there must be sense of belonging, because elections has come and gone, post elections arrangement cannot be determined by the voting pattern of the just concluded elections.

PDP being the most vibrant opposition in the country, both in the Senate and House of Representatives, capable of producing bulk and bloc votes must not be treated with scorn, for a faster socio political and economic stability, if not Senate President, Deputy Senate President must be conceeded to the South East, for balance share of powers.

The President have emerged from the North, while the Vice President is from the South West extraction, it is important that the next highest office should be zoned to the South East which is the Senate President, but the argument that APC must produce the Senate President and other key principal officers does not follow the dictate of the constitution.

The constitutional provisions is clear on this matter, that Senate and House of Representatives must elect one of its members to preside. Based on that, the South East Zone should not be marginalized again, critical Stakeholders and the President must eschew all forms of ethnic jingoism or political bitterness and do the right thing by exhibiting political maturity which will help to stabilize the government.

The 8th Senate has been one of the best in Nigeria’s history in terms of quality of bills and understanding with the executives, despite several attempts by the executives to undermine their powers and turn them into puppet and rubber stamp, these acts by the executives were largely the reasons the government keeps having issues because there was no cordial relationship between them, to avert a repeat, there must be fair and equitable share of power across the six geopolitical zones and major political parties.

There are some experience politicians from the South East with vast knowledge of the constitution, and with the right temperament and political posture, who can be good to go for the post of Senate President and other Principal positions when the slots are zoned to the South East.

These South East experienced Senators has the understanding and cooperation of their fellow Senators across the political parties in the 8th Senate, majority of them have also returned to the chamber. It is important that an experience person is elected because it will help to give quick and right legislative backings to the executive bills aimed at cushioning the effect of recession and to jump-start the economy, Nigeria needs to end too much of politicking and get back to work, the economy needs urgent revival.

South East must be carried along, because the President have the duty to protect and unite every zones, ethnic and religious aspect of the country, the President also needs to support the zoning of the number three highest office to the East to end the insinuation that he is an anti Igbo and religious fundamentalist.

Nigeria is confronted with too many issues ranging from economy, security, anti corruption and poverty, we must not compound these issues with irresponsible political power play, this is why a win win situation must urgently be created to enable the country to progress speedily.
